Christmas Symmetry

Blake found it difficult because he was not joining it the curves so then it didn't let him fill in it. Jemma found this hard too.

Sometime Florence found that everything disappeared so she had to re do it several times.  She had to practice, be patient and persevere.

Hunter found it easy using the curved line. He double tapped it and moved it around to adjust it nicely.

Some of us got onto drawing our own 3d shapes.  Pixie copied the 2D shape and pasted it, then she moved one of them behind it and connected it using straight lines.

Who Owns That Image?

We are learning to find and use images we have permission for.

Who do you think owns the images online?

The images online have a thing called copyright. Have you heard of that before? What do you think it means?

Using images that are copyrighted is stealing. So we need to make sure that we are being smart about how we use images online. There are some images that the author has allowed to be shared in the public domain. This means that anyone can use them. They have the copyright licence 'creative commons'

and are labelled for reuse by anyone.

The best way to get an image that is in the public domain is to use the ‘search the web’ option in Google Drawings or the Explore Tool in Slides and Docs.
Nb. Explore is available in Drawings, you just have to use the ‘Tools’ drop down menu.

Here are some of the All About Me Profiles we created to practice finding images we could use:

Did you find out anything new about Room 18 learners?

Symmetry

On Friday we learnt about symmetry.  Some of us found it difficult to say the word properly......but we got there in the end (we think....).

Te Ihorangi did this work, I think he likes animals....

Room 18's Top Touchpad Tip's

We are learning to use the touchpad accurately.

  • Room 18 practiced using two hands to drag and drop - one stays still and presses down while the other moves across the touchpad
  • We also learned that the slides on our class site sometimes have rewindable resources on them, like videos that we can watch
  • We also checked we all knew the difference between a one and two finger click
  • We decided as a class the expectations for watching a video - we will have sound low / use earphones and if you don't have some... put some on your Christmas list!

Here is Noah's pppt - he was really good at using two fingers - one pointy finger on each hand on the touchpad!

Learning to DRIVE Our Chromebooks More Efficiently!

We are learning to navigate our devices and Google apps to help us to do things faster.

<>

Today we learned that we could find these Google tools when we go to our

waffle on our chromebooks:

  • DRIVE
  • Gmail
We can use bookmarks to make it quicker and easier to access our learning sites.

We checked we had bookmarked our:
  • our DRIVE
  • Miss Howiesons Class Site
  •
Then we opened a Google Doc and wrote about 'us'.

Miss Howieson is showed us that teachers and principals can see the work that is on our DRIVE and anything else that we do online using Hāpara. This is to keep us safe, kind of like like checking books and desks... but online!

We learned how to insert a picture onto our Doc with our chromebook camera.
